Somebody mentioned one of these online years ago… do any still exist?

I need to get the romanization for some place names in Korea during the Japanese Occupation.

Thanks.

Do you mean the romanization used _then_? Or last week, or this week? Have you tried just sticking the names into things like wiktionary or wikipedia:

Sadly, ko:WP does not even have redirects from hanja:

Interesting question. I think the current 教育部 romanization scheme would be best.
Trying to use hanja online usually results in the system assuming I’m using Chinese or Japanese, making romanization useless.

I guess I’ll just send it to my Korean translator.
Since they are place names I had hoped there was a nice converter somewhere. <sigh>

Thanks.

links from Jim Breen's JDIC. Hopefully the link works, if not I will
try posting again. You enter as "guest" without password, and it
displays various romanizations for Korean.

As I suspected, that link might not work. You can use Jim's Kanji
lookup for the individual characters
http://gengo.com/wwwjdic/cgi-data/wwwjdic?1B and then use the link to
Chuck Muller's CJK dictionary.

Thank you, Mark.
Very interesting resource!

Assuming they’re all listed, that should work dandy!
