Thanks to Kirill and Trevor for your replies on this. Having now googled "intron base sequence" and "intron-based sequence" I am strongly inclined to the latter. In the text I am translating, either would be possible, assuming (pace Trevor) that the latter does also make sense to a person skilled in the art in question.

 

My problem was: did they have a reason for writing イントロンベースの配列 (intronbe-su no hairetsu), instead of simply イントロンの塩基配列 (intron no enki hairetsu)?
