Warning about Nigerian Scams targeting translators

and sometimes they send something interesting. I heard about this scam
a few years ago (I was actually contacted by someone a long time ago
trying to dupe me in the same manner) but forgot about it until this
mail.
I'm sure the veterans already know about it but I thought I'd just
pass along the info for anyone who hasn't. I hate these M"""F and
their scams. I still get 5 or 6 of the "ordinary" N-scams a month in
which they ask for help transferring millions of $$ out of the
country. When I get these I fantasy about the movie Tron digitizing
myself and leaping over to whoever has sent the message!!

translators via their personal contact form (and, as we have
previously explained, we cannot read personal emails sent via our
servers without this violating your privacy).

receive it,i want you to proceed to your bank and get it cashed then
deduct your own money and send the excess funds to my publisher so he
could publish it out for me...
Please (X), I want a perfect work from you,and I hope this is okay by
you.I'd like you to get back to me with your contact information so
the payment could be send to you as soon as poosible so you can
commence your work.. I'LL PAY YOU 100 POUNDS EXTRA IF DO A GREAT JOB

This "Nigerian scam" is an old swindler process.
A (false) cheque is sent to you and banks need 4 or 5 weeks to
identify a swindling. The cheque amount is always higher than
previously agreed ("error" or any other pretext) and the crook asks
you to pay the difference to another account ASAP... by bank transfer
from your bank account or a postal order.
And then you are trapped.
Crooks of this type can get away with it for a long time before being
caught in the act because they use a number of plausible addresses and
a number of Internet Service Providers all at the same time.
Even so, we can try and track them down by cross-checking...
As a community, we can be sure that our actions will have greater
influence!
If you are one of the people who have been swindled by this kind of
crook, please do not hesitate in sending us the headers of the first
message received "from" GoTranslators (in blue below) when you were in
contact with them and any other details which might help investigators
to prevent these crooks from doing any more damage (please e-mail
l...@gotranslators.com).
