Hello everyone,

I do apologize if this is considered too off topic (and understand if it needs to be deleted), but I just purchased a new laptop to travel abroad and wish to reinstall my purchased copy of ABBYY finereader 12, which I bought thanks to the recommendations of many here. I was not able to find any way to re-download my purchased copy based on some sort of item code from either the website itself or in my e-mails, and while I copied over all the installed files from my desktop to the laptop, an error prevents any installation from happening. I don't normally have issues like this but seem to be stumped on this one.

Would anyone happen to have any experience on this (or for this program in particular if it is a specific issue), or would the only solution be to buy another copy?

Thank you for any help!

Tim,

I’ve never manually installed FineReader on a second machine, though it moved over fine with everything else when I loaded a brand new computer from a backup of my entire hard disk.
I do have a FineReader license key on file, and I’m assuming you do too but just can’t find how to download.

The software company behind ABBYY gave me a prompt useful response on an installation issue regarding another of their products a few years ago.

Good luck

Stephen

Thank you so much for the help Stephen. I've managed to find that the error that pops up and prevents installation is listed on their website here:
http://knowledgebase.abbyy.com/article/359

And I've found that the ABBYY FineReader Licensing Service it refers to in the services tab of the control panel is not present on my laptop, though it is on the machine I first installed it on.

I've e-mailed the company as well and hope to hear back, though the e-mail is different than what you have provided, so I will try that as well.

Thank you!

Regards,
Tim Roy
