Hello all,

An acquaintance of an acquaintance heard that I dabble with the Japanese language and has asked me to organise a fancy looking hanko for his Aikido school.

I could arrange to have a hanko made in Japan, I suppose, but I thought about faking it with a rubber stamp.
After a little googling I found that the most popular readable font for a hanko is Koin-tai. (Other popular fonts are, apparently, Insho-tai, Kaisyo-tai, Tensho-tai, and Gyosho-tai.)

Does anyone know where I can get this font from (free or paid, it doesn't matter)? I use a Windows machine.

cheers,
Robert Freeman

Forget about rubber stamps. There are a bunch of online hanko shops
that will cut a seal to order and ship it to you for 2,000 yen or
less. Even with an overseas shipping surcharge it will be a cheaper,
easier and higher-quality alternative to "rolling your own."

Here's a list of hanko making apps at Vector.

And here's a list of fonts at Vector.

Search for 篆書体 on both pages. Personally that's the
one I like (I don't care so much about readable).

Vector is my favorite place for Japanese free software.
