In an agrochemical efficacy test, treated seeds were sown, allowed to germinate for a specified period and then inoculated with a defined number of Rhopalosiphum padi 成幼虫 per plant. At present, I have translated this as "adult and larval ......", but maybe a specific developmental stage of the pest is meant.

 

Can anyone cast light on this for me please?

You appear to have it right. Google combinations like "adult and larval morphology" and "adult and larval association" and there are many hits and also other examples more akin to you own. Sometimes the order of "adult" and "larval" is reversed, and sometimes it appears as "adult/larvae", so there are many variations on this.

In my experience, your translation is correct: adult and larval Rhopalosiphum padi per
plant.
