I have returned home from the excellent IJET-22 to find this mystery word waiting for me; despite all the learning going on there, I didn't magically acquire the ability to solve this.

The word is 品熟. Context is limited--it appears a few times in e-mail messages discussing the auto-parts business. An example:

JPNでは、X社に対して__品熟__展開日程の守り切りを考えてUSの日程提示を急がせております。(US型の後にタイJPN R/Hの__品熟__計画が控えており計画通り推進する必要が有ります。)

Thanks in advance.

Apparently it is short for 品質熟成. If you search on "quality
maturity" you do get quite a few hits. But that's about the extent of
my knowledge, I'm afraid.

This specific term is discussed in context here:

I can't think of an equivalent English term right now (I guess I am still
recovering from IJET), but at least this gives you a clue about the meaning.

Adam,

I think it's short for 「品質熟成」which suggests a process of
product refinement through testing in order to attain a particular
level of "maturity" or quality standard. I'm not aware of a concise
term for this. Perhaps "quality refinement"?

Thanks all for the help with 品熟. For some reason, my googling didn't turn up any useful results.

I received private correspondence from someone with experience in the auto industry that the term is widely used at one car maker (at least), where it is translated "quality maturation."
