[ OT ] "Spy vs. Spy" (or "MS vs. Adobe")

Guess old-timers remember the Spy vs. Spy cartoons.

MS has just recently brought out a slew of security
fixes -- and Adobe almost simultaneously released
a fix for a critical security issue with its Reader.

Would you believe the free "Save as PDF" add-in
for MS Office 2007 now produces PDFs that cause
Reader to freeze up? But wait -- there's a newer
fix-for-a-fix for Reader? But it doesn't fix the PDF
compatibility problem -- looks like it's MS shooting
itself in the foot ;-) It will be funny to watch this one
play out.

Clicking the big round button in Word
then clicking the Word Options button
at the bottom of the menu that appears
shows another menu with Resources
at the bottom. I ran the Word Diagnostics
on the menu ; they reported "nothing wrong"
but the Save as PDF problem is fixed ;-)
