The just-released Fedora 15 comes with Gnome 3
http://gnome3.org/ which has a desktop-full-of-icons
application launcher, and "everything can be quickly
accessed from the keyboard".

If you want to just "try it out" then don't bother to burn
the just-released Fedora 15 Live CD if you have a
Japanese keyboard, because it doesn't seem to
allow you to switch the keyboard setting to Japanese.

OpenSUSE Live CDs continue to allow you to switch
the keyboard setting and interface/application language
before loading the Live CD -- but OpenSUSE 11.4 doesn't
come with Gnome 3, and I'm not sure if the Gnome 3 spins
of OpenSUSE include the multilingual support that comes
standard with the official OpenSUSE releases. The next
official release of OpenSUSE (12.1) is not scheduled until
Nov. 10, but apparently Novell is downsizing and losing
many of its people -- so some think that the next release
might not happen on schedule, if at all.

The Google Voice and Video Skype-like phone application
has an rpm version that apparently runs on Fedora and
OpenSUSE, so might be of interest to people who don't
like to install such stuff on their Windows-based "work" PC.
It seems that you can even install such programs on the
fly when using the Live CD.
