I guess every person has a right to prefer/like or dislike/hate anything we see/read/hear/toch.

I happen to abhor/hate Japanese contractions.

A case in point: I was translating an internal report of a corporation written in Japanese by a Japanese employee stationed in London, England.

The word that I got stuck with is プロファイ(not プロファイル). Actually, if I read the whole paragraph with a calm before I fiddled with the sentence, my mind would not have strayed off so far. In reality, I was working hastily realizing I would be 24 hours late than my promise when I finish the job.

After Googling for a while, I came to realize that プロファイ is “project finance.”

Why do Japanese like to contract everything?
