Around 2,400 Israeli artists and architects have signed two petitions calling for an immediate end to Israel’s policies in Gaza, including starvation, forced displacement, and war crimes, according to Israeli media.
One petition, signed by about 1,000 cultural figures including prominent musicians, filmmakers, and writers, calls for an immediate ceasefire and condemns Israel’s actions in Gaza, stating: “We refuse to be complicit in the killing of civilians, starvation, and destruction.” It urges leaders to stop unlawful orders and uphold humanitarian and Jewish values, ending with: “Stop the war. Bring the hostages home.”
A second petition, signed by nearly 1,400 visual artists, designers, and architects, describes Gaza as a “historic-scale horror” and holds the Israeli public responsible for the worsening humanitarian crisis.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 175 Palestinians, including 93 children, have died from starvation due to the Israeli blockade. Since October 7, 2023, over 60,800 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Israel’s ongoing offensive.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant for war crimes. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
