I'm going to be giving a talk about the very basics of the command line next Wednesday. Are you scared of the command line? Then this talk is for you! The goal of the talk is to teach the absolute basics of the command line. How to use it, get around, and manage files. There will also be tips to make the most out of your time on the command line. The idea is to become familiar with the command line to make good use of programs that require/benefit from it such as git.

The talk will be on Wednesday May 8th, at 7:00pm at HI Capacity (inside The Box Jelly). Address is 307a Kamani st, Honolulu 96813. This talk is open to the public.

RSVP on eventbrite:

I hope to see you there,
Jason

Which OS will be emphasized? I am a lover of the command line, but my abilities vary from platform to platform. I could learn a lot about windows, and I am always trying to adjust my linux-centric view to the bizarro world of mac OSX.
mahalo,
Dave

Hi Dave,

The talk will focus on bash which will be applicable for Mac OSX, Linux/Unix, and Cygwin/Git Bash. I'd rather not cover the windows command line because I think it'll make the talk harder to follow for absolute beginners to the command line. If there's enough interest we could have a windows beginners command line talk though.
