Let's see if we can get enough interest for the sparkfun national tour to come. Even if they came to a school instead of HI Capacity itself that would be awesome. The sparkfun national tour costs $1,500 and servers 25-40 people and we can keep the electronics after! More info at:

Let me know if you're interested or know a school that might be interested.

I remember Jerry and Matthew rallying for votes during their Kickstarter in December. Alas it didn't make its goal ($61,000 of $150,000), but it looks like they found another way there. Iolani School may have the resources and interest, given their new Sullivan Center? (I thought of them as we discussed venues or partners for a MakerFaire as well.) Burt and I had Dr. Timothy Cottrell on our show... anyone in touch there?

If you organize a visit, you can charge class+ material fee and make back what you payout.

They are already set for a stop on Maui.

Can someone provide the tentative dates for their visit to Maui?  We're trying to select some potential dates for a mini-makerfaire in Oahu, and wanted to see if we could tie sparkfun to the event.  See the presentation I pulled together for our first planning meeting on the mini-makerfaire that we held last month:

There's also a good short video on the makerfaire concept at http://makerfaire.com/mini/

Next planning meeting is on Tuesday at the Oahu Makerspace from 6-7 if you'd like to attend: https://www.facebook.com/OahuMakerspace

I was originally thinking the sparkfun visit to maui might coincide with the not-yet-planned SpaceGAMBIT symposium in Maui.
However that is on hold (pending funding) and would be in september if it happens.
The SparkFun folks say that September is their busy time for mainland events and wondered if we could do later in year
I'm ok with that - figuring something in Nov/Dec time might be fine here … having it over winter break might get us some more attendees too…. also might be nice end-of-tour event for the SparkFun folks.   There would be a better chance of getting them to stay a few days longer (especially if we help em couch surf), than an earlier date where they would have to run off to next event.
