Hey guys, the Raspberry Pi foundation released a blog ( http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/716 ) announcing that we should watch out for an announcement at 0600 GMT (2000 HST).
I wanted to do a group buy and was going to buy 4 for myself. Did anyone else want to buy some? They're a small ARM-based Linux PC that starts around $35.

The FAQ says one per person for the first batch.  Is this the first batch?

It's the first batch. I guess I'll be getting just one. :-)

I've been watching this project for a looong time. Yes, this is the first batch, limited to 1 device per person.

The $25 model is scaled down -- only half the RAM (128MB), one USB Port, and no Ethernet port. The $35 model comes with Ethernet, twice the RAM, and two USB ports.  These devices are ARM based, which will be useful for those hoping to beef up your cross-compiling or embedded-systems skills.

FYI, there is no I2S support in this first batch (design flaw, apparently) unless you're a ninja with a soldering iron. That pretty much means digital audio output is going to be a little more effort. (USB Audio, or HDMI Output)

Otherwise, these should be great for streaming video in a fanless, solid-state HTPC setup.

Looks like you can buy the $35 version. Unfortunately both of the
retailers sites seem to have collapsed under the load. I plan to try
again tomorrow. But if shipping is too much I might just wait until we
can do a batch order.

Damn. I got tied up with something else and missed out, now I get two
"Recv failure: Connection reset by peer" errors.

Newark says mine is expected to ship 5/14, that's some demand...

May 15? Shoot I'll wait and see if there are any at Maker Faire.
Anyone from HiCap going?
