Aloha Everyone,

Put this project together and thought I would put it out there for comments and use. Check it out at http://ev-hawaii.mavensllc.com

Backstory: A while ago DBEDT (Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism) put out a "database" (it's a pdf: http://energy.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Hawaii-EV-Charging-Station-Database-April-2-MSL-Final.pdf) of electric vehicle stations in Hawaii. I thought it would be nice to have a little RESTful interface and some nice maps around it. Let me know what you think or better yet if you can use it.

Cheers,
Bryce

Wow, looks nice Bryce! Now I just need an electric car :)

I think you should submit your web app to the Can-Do portal:
http://can-do.honolulu.gov/apps

Also, maybe we could get Burt/Ryan to mention it on Bytemarks. Do you
have a blog-post or G+ post about the making of it anywhere?

Just as a side note both the city and state are launching open data
portals (with API's) although I don't see the electric vehicle
charging station info on there:
https://data.honolulu.gov/
https://data.hawaii.gov/ (not open to the public yet?)

Hi Bryce,
Nice job. I know this is a little last minute but we have a meetup scheduled tonight right after the radio show to feature work being done with open data. Please come if you can. You can talk about your charging station map.

Thanks,
Burt

Bryce,

Pretty cool. I'm almost positive that the EV charging station data is collected by the State. I will look into it though, if its City that is a worthwhile data set to get up on our site.

Our data.honolulu.gov site is up and running and I encourage you guys to take a look at it and get familiar with it. If you search by "newest" we just added Crime Stats (updates bi-weekly) and traffic incidents (updates every 10 mins, but we'll narrow that down as we continue testing). Both have standard API's.

We also launched a new GIS site  http://cchnl.maps.arcgis.com/home/  that has developer tools. Our http://sirens.honolulu.gov/ site is pulling the siren data off of that site.

We have a Github account as well, https://github.com/honolulu

If you would like us to feature the EV app on can-do and its production ready please give me a little write up about the app and we'll get it up there.  As a former EV owner it would be nice to have a comment section.  A number of the stations in Waikiki aren't available to the public, and the one in Kaka'ako by the med school is always broken down.

Aloha,
-Forest
