Run multiple Honeyview can cause high CPU usage problem. In my test, 100 processes is too many. Honeyview keep using CPU at idle. When processes become too many, small problems become big problem.

Hello, this is Bandisoft.

To solve the problem you are currently experiencing, you may uncheck "Cache next image" in the configuration of Honeyview as shown below. Please try it.

Because of memory limit, the "Cache next image" has been already unchecked. So it cannot help.

Each Honeyview process use less than 1% CPU. It's low, but not zero.
I tried to use Honeyview and Windows Photo Viewer to open the same 50 images.
Here is the result. As you can see, Windows Photo Viewer has 0% CPU usage while Honeyview is not.

Thank you for your bug report.

I have tried to lower CPU usage on idle time, and you could try it here.

Best Regards,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried it. CPU usage becomes much lower.
But I find that the problem is not High CPU Usage which I stated in the title.
I think it is before, because Windows 10's Task Manager showed me that.

Now total CPU usage is very low but the system and other programs are still lagged.
So, I have another test. I opened 290 images with the new Honeyview program you sent.
Then open League of Legends. The game is lagging. Average FPS is lower than usual. Framerate is unstable.

Then I set the processor affinity of each Honeyview process to a single CPU core using the PowerShell script below.
ForEach($PROCESS in GET-PROCESS Honeyview) { $PROCESS.ProcessorAffinity=2}
Everything goes back to normal. The game stops lagging. Average FPS becomes higher. Framerate is stable.
And in Task Manager, none of the CPU cores has 100% usage. Including CPU1 that I set the processor affinity to.
Every Honeyview process runs well. Switching to the next image is still fast.

Unfortunately, I couldn't produce the FPS problem with my PC.

But, I have tried to reduce more CPU usage in the idle time and changed the thread priority.

I believe it would solve your problem.

Here is the link for you to test it.

Thanks.

Thanks, CPU usage is less now.
But after opening tons of Honeyview processes, it can still lagging windows.
The lag is noticeable. Maybe there is a context switch problem.
Windows Photo Viewer dose not have this problem.
But I really don't want to use it.

Sorry, currently I have no idea how to solve the problem.

I hope this problem will be fixed in the next major update(6.0) by changing the framework of the app.

I am not a Bandisoft employee, I am a volunteer.
After reading everything you said, I believe it is caused by some device or software problem or conflict.
Also, we are not experiencing this.

And it seems that you live in China and are using Chinese programs, and some of the programs made in China have conflicting or problematic software, so it is likely that the honeyview program is affected.

There doesn't seem to be a solution other than to uncheck it.

I'm afraid it is not. If it is, set CPU affinity cannot help, but it dose.
The problem appear only when running enough Honeyview processes. I think that's why it's hard to be noticed.
In my case, 100 is few and there is no lagging. 200 is too many and the system slow down noticeably.
Although I think it's not a problem because 100 is enough for daily use.

But I always open a lot of tabs in my chromium base browser. It just use many memory and won't lag the system.
Hence there is room for improvement.

Honeyview is still the best though. It open 200 images very fast. And the CPU usage is much less than before.

PS.I live in Taiwan actually.

Same problem here. Build 5139, image cache unchecked.

The CPU usage vary from 0,1 to 0,3% per picture. Any idea why?

The CPU usage is improved. In the latest version(Currently V 5.45 build 6005), it vary from 0 to 0.1%. Very close to 0%. Although it does not like Windows Photo Viewer which stay in 0%, it's still good.
