Hi,
I am Gayatri Pimple, mother of an 11 year old.His name is Jay Pimple. I live in Pune, Maharashtra. Currently, Jay is studying in sixth standard of St. Vincent's school. He and we too are very happy with the school.
So, Why Homeschooling ?
Jay is playing Badminton since he is 5 years old and for past 6 years has consistently been saying that he wants to make a career in Badminton. With his current school hours dedicating time for badminton has become very hectic and is taking a toll on his health and physical growth. And hence, I gave him an option of homeschooling which I knew from a friend I had way back when I was appearing for 12th exam that such a concept can be done out of choice; which Jay in turn was pleased to know about.
Honestly, at this point of time no one can say if my son Jay will be able to reach high enough to be able to make a career in Badminton as a sport but then no one ever does know it.
The whole point of removing him from system is to provide him with an opportunity to pursue His aim with complete dedication. Whether, he succeeds or not does not matter. What matters is that he gets a fair chance to chase his dream and we as parents want to support him for that.
But, along with it we want to keep a few options open for him. So, if in near future if he wants to get back in the academic system he should be able to fit in and get in. And want to be in touch with people who are already in to homeschooling/ucschooling and or any kind of alternate education.
For now yes, he is going to school and we have decided to opt out of school from next year.
I request you to pop in suggestions to how i can keep my son's academics up to the mark so if he wants to enter college or any other educational system eventually then he should fit in and I welcome any inputs or comments regarding the same.
Thank You,
Gayatri Pimple
