I bought this app and can NOT get the HD streaming directly to my nexus 7 or NOOK HD+ working, the video play quickly deteriorate from Audio/Video sync off to jittery to unwatchable, 1080i is worse than 720p.

First I thought it's network issue, then I realize it's more about mpeg 2 decoding issue. Seems these android pad don't really support mpeg2 hardware acceleration, so it's already a stuggle for these pad to decode 1080i ( need deinterlace ) or720p mpeg2 video, now adding the task of accepting 1-3 mbps traffic wirelessly, the pad simply can not keep up.

so, the question is, did someone really get this HD streaming directly to device working on nexus 7 or nook hd+? is there any codec I can install to enable the "mpeg2 hardware acceleration"? Or is it really a mission impossible due to the limitation of the device?   BSplayer seems to be handling mpeg2 decoding better, is there any way to use BSplayer instead of vplayer or mxplayer?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

You're correct, android does not directly support decoding mpeg2 which makes it have to work MUCH harder to play the video. A lot of people have had success getting pretty watchable video on a nexus 7 using VPlayer but it really depends on your network conditions, video is really sensitive to dropped packets or high latency.

The problem with BSPlayer is that it does not directly open udp streams directly (going through the BSPlayer interface works I think but you can't launch it from another app). SIlicondust is working on a new device which will transcode the video from Mpeg2 to H.264 which android devices and decode in hardware, so it should be MUCH better on that device.
