Depending what the watery solution is used for. If it is for acute
prescribing there is no need to add anything since the doses are
taken in shorter intervals and the cure is established before the
bottle is empty. You can then empty the bottle but still use the
bottle for same remedy next time.
For chronic cases, there is a great chance this bottle must be used
over an extended period of time. Then we will normally add 15 drops
of alcohol or vodka to a 4 oz RSB and 30 drops to an 8 oz RSB.
However as Hahnemannn also advises, if one lives in hot damp climate
he would put up to one third of alcohol in the bottles. Obviously
they did not have refrigerators then and the same situation can still
occur when you work in third world countries. Otherwise putting it in
refrigerator and even in cupboard away from sun would be ok with
regular dose of alcohol. For those that are in AA and refuse to have
any alcohol as a preservative, use glycerin in same amounts.

Regarding dosages and potency......
This is far too much a topic to answer all this here! Much has been
said about this in my book Achieving the Simillimum and another 300
page book of more advanced selection of potencies and doses appears
this January about the topic.
You also must make the distinction between DOSE and Potency! This is
not the same.
The general rule: the closer to the simillimum the higher the potency
and the SMALLER the dose (see A 275 and A276!).
There are of course exceptions: hypersensitives, organic pathology
and suppressed skin diseases always have to be started with low (6C)
potencies or olfaction.
Thinking you get less aggravations with 1M than 30C is pure nonsense.
These people must read Aphorism 63 and 64 and explain it how that can
be. Everything depends on Asphorism 281 (Nature of patient, disease and remedy!)
