Technical Details.
Helios pharmacy was born out of the desire of
homoeopaths to prepare remedies for themselves
and to create an original source of remedies from
the material substance. This ideal continues and
Helios is committed to finding quality remedy
sources and preserving the accuracy of its
potentisation methods. We are always updating our
remedy bank to eventually have Helios sourced
products from the lowest to the highest potency.
MATERIAL SOURCES. The sources for our mother
tinctures (Ø) are fresh plants collected from
wild habitats as well as those organically grown
by British herb growers. Some tinctures are made
from organic dried plants and the more exotic
species are bought in from existing manufacturers
at home and abroad (mainly France). We have
bought some of the very rare remedies from
established manufacturers around the world in the
lowest available potencies and continue to search
for the best possible sources. Inorganic
materials are made from the pure substance except
for Hahnemanns specials such as Merc Sol, Hepar
Sulph, Calc Carb(oyster shell) and Causticum
which are prepared according to his directions.
POTENTISATION. Our machine-free methods of
potentisation use trituration procedures as laid
down in Hahnemann's 5th & 6th edition of the
Organon and our centessimal potencies are made
always in 90% alcohol using 40 hand succussions
for each step. We are continuing to succuss our
centessimal remedies by hand up to 200c and to 12x in the decimal scale.

How long does it take for my orders to be processed
All the remedies prepared in the pharmacy are
made by hand to your individual requirements. Our
usual policy is for orders of 5 items or less to
be despatched the same working day as long as the
order is received by 3pm (GMT). Larger orders of
up to 40 items then take there place in the queue
and usually take 3 to 5 working days to process.
Larger orders can take up to 28 days to process.
What types of tablets etc. do we have.
We have four main types of solid dose form:
Tablets: flat lactose/sucrose - 9/gm (approx)
Pillules: spherical sucrose - 25/gm (approx)
Granules: sucrose 100/gm (approx)
Trituration tabs: quick dissolving lactose - 8/gm (approx)
Large soft tabs: quick dissolving lactose - 5/gm (approx)
The above are availble in a range of sizes: 4g,
8g, 14g, 28g and 40g (all nominal sizes) Larger sizes are available on request
If an Oral liquid is needed we offer liquid
potencies made up in 25% alcohol. These are
available in 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml.
What are medicating potencies
These are remedies made in 'high alcohol' (ie 90%
ethanol). They are used by practitoners and other
pharmacies to medicate tablets and pills etc.
Can you recommend a remedy for....
The art of selecting the "right" remedy is
dependent on many factors and is ideally done in
consultation with a homoeopath. It is very rare
that we can suggest a remedy for a specific
condition and we would advise you to contact a practitioner in your area.
In the U.K. it is best to seek a registered homoeopath, and

should be able to recommend one for you.
HIGH POTENCIES. For many years high potency
remedies supplied in the U.K. have been imported
and have come from a variety of sources some of
which are over a hundred years old. In fact since
homoeopathy has been active in this country,
there has never been the means of producing high
potencies in the UK until now. Since 1993, after
two years of research and development, Helios is
proud to be the first British company to have its
own high potency succussion machine. To make a
high potency by hand would take weeks or months
and is extremely labour intensive. What we have
sought to do in designing the Helios Potentiser
is to adhere as closely as possible to the human
arm action of dilution and succussion "against a
hard but elastic object"; (§270) as per
Hahnemann's instructions. The machine repeatedly
empties and refills a single vial (Korsakov
method) until the desired potency is reached, the
whole process being computer-controlled to ensure
stability and accuracy. A constant supply of
freshly distilled water is used as the dilutent
for purity. We are continually replacing our
imported stocks of high potency remedies with our
own and are extending our work to eventually
include most, if not all, of our remedies. For
our customers' benefit, where a remedy has been
made by our machine we are indicating this on the
remedy label by the initials "HK" (Helios Korsakov).
LM POTENCIES. We have a large range of LM
potencies which have been prepared according to
the Organon 6th edition (except that our
vegetable remedies have been started using the 3c
prepared by succussion in liquid dilution rather
than trituration in lactose). The size of our LM
granules is such that 100 = 60mg (1 grain) as
Hahnemann suggests and all LM medicated granules
are thoroughly medicated and dried before dispatch.
OTHER PRODUCTS. Solid dosage forms eg. pills,
tablets, powders etc. are medicated sufficiently
to ensure a direct contact with the potentised
fluid. One drop of potency to 10-15 tablets or
pills is the guide we consider as a minimum
requirement for thorough medication.
All medicating potencies are prepared using one
drop of the previous potency to 99 drops (3.5ml)
of 90% alcohol and are all fully succussed before leaving the pharmacy.
Our creams are prepared with 5% of the mother
tincture in a base of almond oil, emulsifying
wax, borax and water. Our ointment base is an
anhydrous lanolin and almond oil mixture. A
non-lanolin beeswax and almond oil formula is also available if required.
