Not just in this topic but all around, I have found the climate in
people's lives are understandably sad, and it seems a time to grieve.
The turning of spring offers less hope as in previous years because of
the economy.
The W. Market St. UMC Overflow shelter turned out there man on Friday
morning and the temperature was 31 degrees that night. Neither HAFUP,
WE!, or the First Presbyterian Church were able to create transitional
housing for that group. Also I met only one person that said that
their housing was taken care of when I visited ther on the last night,
Thursday the 19th of March.
Most of the groups that help us have communicated that they are
experiencing burn out, and also many negative attitudes flaring up
around many in the helps community.
It occurred to me that their needs to be new volunteers, workers, and
groups to replentish the efforts, a day after our last meeting at the
library (an extra one I called this week on Friday the 20th of March
with a potluck), I was thinking about the comments generated after I
distributed a quick resource guide I patched together, that the wait
lists are closed all around, and or are very long.
We had a woman 7mo pregnant and her and her husband had no place to
go, either together or seperately, had tried all the places that I
knew about.
I have video footage of the meeting at the library that happened on
Monday March 9th which I haven't posted to the website and am in
general very behind on the basic administration lately.
I pray the season changes to a time of action quickly. April Fools
day will soon be upon us and many more people will be facing a crisis.
