I had a description of the alternate crystal VXO (vs ceramic resonator) on the schizmo but it fell off during editing. Oh, well.
Basically Peter says when using crystals to use two in parallel along with a series inductor. He said to choose the inductor value to be a compromise between maximum frequency swing and best oscillator stability.
