As much as I tease Jason about carbon mic's., there is an advantage to carbon mic's. related to SSB/DSB and minimalist radios; they're inherently frequency bandwidth limited. 300 to 3000 KHz is about all you'll get. Thank the phone co. for that.
The amplitude is a different story; the louder you talk the more output you get. I don't know a simple way to limit a carbon button mic. without either lots of additional circuitry or distortion.

I liked the first version better. Kind of gives new meaning to "spread
spectrum." :-)
