(Nevermind about this topic...)

Dragonriders of Pern is a text-based strategy game that had an incorrect review on the site. The problem was the review confuses the DOS release from 1987 with some earlier C64/Atari versions that didn't play quite the same. This is why I'd like there to be a review for the "correct" IBM PC-DOS version (even though we might keep both), but this requires someone to play it.

Downloads: Game, Manual

The manual is quite long, but I'm sure any old-schooler won't be too intidimated ;) I'm genuinely hoping there's someone who enjoys this sort of game and can get a little bit of an in-depth feel (1 full game is probably enough though). Maybe even compare it with other similar games you have/haven't played.

You can use this slightly mangled text as the basis for your review, or write one from scratch as you prefer. Post any questions in this thread.

I played through the Dos version and i can attest that the current review is accurate to how the dos game plays as well. I think the beginning paragraph was just saying it original came out for the Atari and C64 not that they were reviewing that title. But i do have a couple things to add to it, such as a screen shot of in game (Even though it's all text it's good to give an idea of what it looks like) and a place you can download the game!

Thanks for confirming that it's okay then! I must have misunderstood. To be fair the review talks a lot about the C64 one.

As for the download: I've deliberately avoided including d/l links for any games because a) HotU has always been neutral about abandonware (only hosting if there's absolutely nowhere else to get it) and has never had links to abandonware sites. b) there might be a better solution later on... sorry for being a bit vague.
