Community Growing Plots - Funding Success

Hi All,

 

We've heard today that we have been successful with our first bid for funding for our Green Gym Scheme.

 

NHS Wakefield District have awarded us just under £500 from their Communities and Partnerships Small Grants Fund to be spent on materials to create 8 new plots at Ossett Community Centre.

 

The scheme fit the funds criteria as it increases access to affordable fruit and vegetables and other healthy foods, helps raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy diet and also allows volunteers to improve their physical well being.

 

The Growing Club will be meeting at the Community Centre at 10am this Friday to start setting up the first of the new plots and to sow seed trays ready for planting into plots in a few weeks time.
