EARTHEN PLASTER WORK-PARTY and OPEN HOUSE at Calliope Farm's new Clay/straw farmhouse.
Sat and Sun Aug 5th and 6th. Opening circle at 9 am followed by a intro to the materials and systems . We will close by 5 pm.
Address 1335 Overhulse Drive.
We will be preparing, applying and learning about these natural, clay based plasters as we use local materials, ancient methods and community spirit.
Kid friendly, smeared on the walls by hand.....Earthen plasters consist of a combination of clay, sand, and often fiber, such as chopped straw or hemp fibers (some like horse manure). Ideally materials come directly from the site, neighborhood or local area. Local clay based plasters are considered to be the most simple, healthy and ecological of building materials
