cooktop??? help

I need some help..I want to upgrade my current cooktop, however the
newer models require a 6" clearance on either side of the cooktop for
(combustion reasons) well i have a cabinet wall area that can not be
moved etc..my current cooktop (very old) complies with the specs of a
2.5" clearance. I have a tiled counter top, so i thought i may be able
to tile the wall area? or maybe install a "heat shield"?? Any
suggestions??? thank you!
