Tip for installing light fixtures

So, I just finished changing out a bathroom fan for a Nutone fan/light
combo. fan screen goes up and is held in place by the lighting fixture
that's screwed to a bolt with a nut, only the bolt wasn't very long,
everytime I would try to fasten the nut down, I would push the bolt up
and there wasn't enough space to grab the bolt. I offer this tip:

In order to hold onto the bolt, I took a length of dental floss, tied
it around the bolt and slid the nut right up. I was able to pull down
on the bolt while tightening the nut. Worked well. I suggest
easyglide stuff instead of the regular floss.
