My doorbell is producing the ding, not the dong... It's a single,
front door only wired bell. It was this way when I bought the house
and I figured it was the cause of a 50+ yr old doorbell, so I replaced
it(bell only). It did not fix the problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

Ding, no dong, it usually an indication of being wired for the back
door. Ding-dong is for the front door. I can't see your door bell, but
sounds like the wiring needs to be adjusted for front door use. It is
also possible that a wire or solenoid is out, but I would be checking
for the way the wiring currently is. A check of an older electrician's
book may well give you the proper wiring diagram.

Thanks Shel -

I did a little more research on this... At the front door, there are
only 2 wires... at the bell, also only 2 wires. One for Trans, the
other for either front or back. I currently have the trans wire hooked
up to Trans, the other to Front. You think I should switch front to
rear and see if this makes a difference? Thanks again for all who
reply!
