Hi, I was wondering what folk's favorite coffee bean roasting method
is?

I'm new to roasting and have currently been using an air popcorn
popper. I'm thinking soon, just for the experience, I'll try roasting
in a pan, though I understand that can be tricky.

Are there any particular roasters people have bought that they
like/didn't like and why?

Thanks.

I liked my air poppers, Timothy, but the last of them has broken and
I've moved on to the Fresh Roast.

It was fun to play with pan roasting while humming Home on the Range,
but don't expect the quality you get with modern roasters. Personally I
got tired of shaking the pan and my roasts had a tendency to scorch.

I've wanted to try a closed pot roaster but haven't been able to locate
one. The pot has a crank on the side that moves a stirrer close to the
bottom inside.

Yes, I've heard that roasting in the pop corn poppers can be hard on them.

Yea, that is part of what I've heard, that it can be tricky to get a
good batch with a pan.

Try at http://www.sweetmarias.com

I noticed that they had one like that for sale there.

That is also where I'm currently buying my beans at. They seem to be
quite knowledgable. Nope, I don't own any stock there!

Hi Ginny--I sent an email to Coffee Bean Hut since they usually have
all the available stuff at great prices and learned that they carry the
Back to Basics line of poppers. You can find them at:

As with Timothy, I don't have stock in them I just know they've been
serving me well for 5 years. Wish they showed more of their stuff on
the website. They say they're working on it.
