From the Pastor:
This weekend is a bittersweet time in the life of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. On the one hand we come to the last Sunday of our Easter celebration and we hear the great words of John 17 in which Jesus reminds his disciples about the gift of prayer and his constant presence with them.
As we engage in worship, we are also celebrating the ministry and service of Margaret Hulsey who has served our church faithfully for 22 years. Margaret has been a constant and abiding presence with us. She has provided the quiet work that has made many of our ministries possible. We will certainly miss her presence among us.
We will have a farewell reception for her after our Saturday service. And following our 10: a.m. service on Sunday morning.
DON'T FORGET THAT OUR SUNDAY SUMMER WORSHIP TIME BEGINS THIS SUNDAY AT 10:00 A.M.
Our Southeastern Synod Assembly also occurs this weekend at the Chattanooga Convention Center beginning on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Please pray for the work of our Synod and the ELCA as the Assembly meets. Because of the reception for Margaret Hulsey, Pastor Scott will be returning early from the Assembly.
Peace in Christ,
Pastor Scott
From the call committee – Michelle Angalet, our synod representative, met with your call committee last week and presented names of candidates for the Senior Pastor position. Please be aware that these names are confidential and cannot be shared with the congregation at this time. Please be respectful of the confidentiality of these names and know that we cannot either confirm or deny names that we have received. We appreciate your understanding and I will keep you informed as to where we are in the process. We hope to have our first interviews with the candidates after Memorial Day and will start the process of second interviews and the narrowing of the candidate pool after that. Thank you for your understanding and know that the committee has the best interests of the congregation in mind as we go through this process.
Sabra Black, Chair, Call Committee
Please open and read the attached letter from the Stewardship Committee and check out how we are doing and what is in store for our future.
VBS is just 2 weeks away!
Needing help with sewing small teddy bears or help us make some fun props! We also need several Robots; it can be a fun family project or just using your own creativity for a good purpose. There are boxes and miscellaneous items in room 10 in our lower hallway that you can choose from. Pictures of ideas are available to get you started. There are also several projects to be painted and a set to be built. If you have any time that you can come and work on things here or pick them up and do them at home please let me know! I will meet you at your convenience and give you the materials that we have. There are still many items needed in donations on our ministry table in the Fellowship hall. Please consider helping with this amazing outreach to our community! We already have 80 kids signed up and I believe it is going to be a year like those in the past when we were hosting 150-160 kids! Be part of making a difference in the life of a child by sharing your talents and maybe even help lead in some area!

Please stop by the Ministry Station to sign up to bring donations and/or to help put the lunches together.
Items still needed: bread, fruit cups, drink boxes & chips, plus large coolers (lend, not donate) and shallow boxes for transporting lunches
When you sign up, please take a Thrivent T-shirt to wear when you come to help make sandwiches and pack lunch bags. Thrivent pays for the ham, so we’ll send them a “Thank You” picture of our Thrivent Action Team making a difference in our community.
W-ELCA Annual Women’s Scholarship
Holy Trinity’s Women of the ELCA organization will again offer a $1000.00 educational scholarship. It is the intent of this organization to encourage women of all ages to expand their current talents as a Christian and perhaps carry those and newly learned talents into an area that will enable her to help others know God too. Please review the application for all requirements and details. The application is available on Holy Trinity’s website. Hard copies are currently posted on the W-ELCA bulletin board, near the church office door. The deadline for receipt of the applications is Sunday, July 30, 2017.
There are still several dates available in the flower book for 2017 dedications. Please check the book on the wooden table in the fellowship hall to choose a date to donate flowers for the sanctuary.
WORSHIP COORDINATORS NEEDED
We are in immediate need of worship coordinators for the 11 a.m. service on Sunday mornings. This person needs to be in the sacristy area around 30 minutes prior to the service to be sure all of the worship servants for the service arrive and are robed and prepared for the service. Once everyone is in place, the worship coordinator is done for that Sunday. If we have several worship coordinators, we can alternate months which makes it easier for all. We could also use additional 8:30 worship coordinators so they can alternate also. Please consider if this would be an easy way for you to serve here at Holy Trinity.
Did you know that you can now donate to Holy Trinity through our website? Click on "Giving" at the top of the page, then press the "Donate" button.
Simply Giving, another simple and convenient way to give.
Consider signing up for
electronic giving. Holy Trinity relies
on the financial support of the congregation and electronic giving offers an
easy way to give on a recurring basis.
Please contact the church office for details. Thank you!
