Pearls of Wisdom

06-May

Guru Purnima – 15

There was an ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu. A young man called Yi, who had heard of Lao Tzu, built a small hut and stayed near the teacher. He had to prove that he was a fit student so he began to observe Lao Tzu. He went to him and asked him certain questions. Lao Tzu did not say anything. The young man stayed there for several months. Whenever Lao Tzu was free he would go and ask him questions. He would never reply. The man became upset. Many times he went and asked questions. Lao Tzu did not even look at him.  So the young man went away in anger.

After one year he came back, repaired the hut and began to stay there. When he went to Lao Tzu, he asked him why he had left him and now why he had come back. He said, “I was full of emotions against you. Now all these emotions have died. So I have come.”

May we follow the spiritual path shown by Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda to reach God, the goal of our lives, and by His power help others also in their struggle to reach Him.
