Holy Mother in the Midst of Her Family – 11
A Compassionate and Forgiving Sister – 02
Another day Prasanna said to her: “Sister, I have heard that you appeared to a devotee in a dream, gave him initiation, and also assured him of his liberation. You have cared for us from birth and have brought us up. Shall we remain like this forever?”
The Mother replied: “Things will happen as the Master ordains. Let me tell you something. Sri Krishna played with the cowherd boys, laughed with them, walked with them, and even ate the leavings from their plates. Did they know who he was?”
Another time Prasanna asked: “Sister, we all were born in the womb of the same mother. Shall we not achieve anything?”
“True,” she assured her brother. “What should you be afraid of?”11 [11 Swami Nikhilananda, Holy Mother, Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Centre: New York, 1962, p. 122]
Narayan Iyenger, a wealthy devotee of Holy Mother, expressed a desire to dig a well for her on the family’s land, so that she could have good drinking water. Kalikumar appreciated Iyenger’s intention but demanded 700 rupees for the small piece of land on which the well was to be dug — which was worth only 15 rupees. However, the deal did not go through at that time for various reasons. Kalikumar said to Brahmachari Barada: “You see, if Sister saved the money that she receives from her devotees, she would be wealthy. But she spends lavishly for Radhu and gives money away to her other brothers. I am sorry that our sister is not saving anything. Could you tell me who gets the most from her?”
