Pearls of Wisdom
07-March
After his first visit to America, Swami Vivekananda was addressing a meeting of all the great intellectuals and eminent people of Calcutta, sharing with them his plans to establish an organization comprising of householders and monks. He had many lofty plans for the future of India and Indians, but some people felt that they were too wild. In the midst of the meeting one man from the audience shouted, ‘But sir, that’s impossible!’ Swamiji on hearing this, raised himself to his full height and said, “Who said that? Stand up. Who said that? Raise your hand.” All sat quiet. Nobody dared to rise or raise his hand. Swamiji thundered, “Whoever it is, there is the door. This is not the place for people who think it is impossible. Simply because you think it is impossible do you think I will water down my ideals? No!” We may or may not reach there, it does not matter as many people may be involved in the project so it may not or will not happen as we expect.
