Vedanta says man is the architect of his own future. The example given is of the quiver full of arrows. There are a number of arrows in the quiver and the archer has the freedom to choose any – and to send one or not to send. There are three types of arrows (a) those that have already left, (b) The arrow that is on the bow but has not left and (c) that which is in quiver. The archer has no control over those that have already left. He does not know whether they reached the target or not. He cannot correct what he has done – that is the load of past Karmas which we carry with us.
