We think we are the body and a soul happens to be inside but he stands on the level of the soul and a body made up of material things formed around it, so that Spirit can communicate with the world of matter. Just for that He is essentially a Soul. That is what is meant by Tat Tvam Asi – You are That. And the realisation comes when we experience Aham Brahmasmi – I am Brahman, one of the main principles of Vedanta, based upon which is the service of God in man. It is a fact – not an idea, nor ideal.
