Power of the Name – 31
All religions insist that faith is very very necessary. There is a story illustrating this - a king was guilty of doing something wrong and he was very sad about it. He realized it and repented but how could he get out of the situation? One day he went to the forest. There he saw the hermitage of a great Yogi. But the yogi was not there, the king saw his young son. He confessed that he had done a great wrong and asked what he should do to get out of the desperate situation he was in. The Yogi’s son advised him to repeat the name of the Lord three times with faith and he will be saved. The father returned after some time and asked if anything had happened? The son told him that the king had come and that he was desperate since he had done something wrong. He wanted to atone for it, he wanted a solution for his problem. Then the father asked, “What did you say?” The son replied that he had advised him to repeat the Lord’s name three times. The father said, “Naughty boy! you don’t have faith! should you repeat it 3 times? Once is enough! With full faith and with full heart once is enough! As you don't have faith you will have to be reborn.” And that is how he was reborn as Guha! Guha, the boatman who took Sri Rama, Sita and Lakshmana across the river. He was reborn as Guha because he did not have absolute faith.
