Swami Adbhutananda
Latu Maharaj recalled: " One day in Delhi a man came to Swamiji and asked,' Sir, I practise so much japam and meditation, but I still do not see the light.' Swamiji replied: ' You are reciting prayers and hymns in Sanskrit without knowing the meaning, like a parrot. Instead, pray to God with real longing in your mother tongue. Then you will see the light."
At Khetri Latu Maharaj talked with Raja Ajit Singh, who was a disciple of Swamiji. Latu Maharaj spoke with such intelligence that the raja had no idea that he had no formal education. In fact, he enjoyed talking to Latu Maharaj so much that he mentioned it to Swamiji. One day the raja brought out a globe and started pointing out the various countries. Latu Maharaj had never seen a globe before. Swamiji understood the situation immediately and came forward to his brother disciple's help, giving such a turn to the conversation that the raja could not know that Latu Maharaj had had no schooling.
