Dear Devotees:

I received these nice lines. Enjoy...

Rachna

When you are absolutely happy in your aloneness, when the other is not a need, it is then that you are capable of love. If the other is your need, you can only exploit, manipulate, dominate but cannot love.

Because you depend on the other, possessiveness arises -- out of fear. "Who knows? The other is with me today; tomorrow he/she may not be with me. Who knows about the next moment?" [...] Out of that fear of the future, you become very possessive. You create bondage around the person you think you love.

But love cannot create a prison. If love creates a prison, then what is left for hatred to do? Love brings freedom -- love gives freedom. It is non-possessiveness. But that is possible only if you have known a totally different quality of love, one not of need but of sharing.

Love is sharing of overflowing joy. You are too full of joy, you cannot contain it, you have to share it. Then there is poetry, then there is something tremendously beautiful which is not of this world, something that comes from the beyond.

Often I say, learn the art of love. What I really mean is: learn the art of removing all that hinders love. It is a negative process. It is like digging a well -- you go on removing layers of earth, stones, rocks and then suddenly there is water. The water was always there as an undercurrent. When you remove all barriers, the water is available. So with love. Love is the undercurrent of your being. It is flowing, but there are many rocks, much earth to be removed. That's what I mean when I say: learn the art of love. It is really not learning love but un-learning the ways of un-love.

Respected Madam,

Nameshkar,

I hav read the article of Swami Chaitanya Keerti,  He has very nicely put the difference between attachment and love. yes, attachment is nothing but mental bondage.  On the contrary, detachment is love.  Detachment is not escapism.  It is the intelligent way of getting involved.  For ex. One  should devleop love towards one's parents, wife and children and not attachment.  Attachment creates desire to possess.  As soon as the desire interferes, it creates sense of losing and anger. Anger destroys ours discriminating faculty which intellect.  The entire messages Gita helps us to keep our intellect very strong.. That is the beauty of Gita.  We may have many vasanas which are being carried from the past.  We cannot eliminate the vasanas at a times.  As I have written earlier, it has to be offloaded through constant practice of jnana , bakthi , karma and meditation.  Till such time one should develop himself  to handle that vasanas properly.  That is where intellect plays very important role.  For example,   'X' is having 1000 and 'y' 100 vasanas .  If 'X' has devloped intellect   and 'y' is not .  In the abov case even though 'X' has more vasnans , he would be able to handle his life in a better way than 'y' who has less no. of vasanas.  Even 100 vasanas can ruin his entire life.  It is not the quantity of vasanas whic gives poblem,  It the clarity of thought which makes the diffference.

Detachment is not dry status.  One must participate in other's sufferings and pain and at the same able to witness his own sufferings.  Detachment gives calm and composed mind without any mental agitation.

Thanks for posting the same.

Thanks with regards,
R. Parameswarn

Respected Parameshwaramji
Namaskar
Your explanation was very good and i have come across this particular line very often in conversations or in literature"We may have many vasanas which are being carried from the past"--could you please elaborate on it more and how to overcome them ,and when they say "go deep into meditation find the root cause "..................what exactly is meant by that and how to do it?Are irritation and anger same?

Dear Sri Gopa Chakravarthyji,

Nameshkar,

We have many un-unfanifested vasanas which is called sanchitha vasanas.  For example out of 1000 sanchita vasanas , the vasanas which are very strong for ex. 500  gets propelled and waiting for suitable body, suitable parentage to get manifested to exahust that propeeled vasanas which called Prarabdha Vasanas.  Prarabdha vasanas is like abullet coming out fom pistol whih cannot be retracted back.  One needs to experience the positive and negative of that experience.  Now we have no choice but to experince the same but we have present where we can utilize properly to change ourselves by realizing the Truth more and more for the furture destiny..  That is why Swami Vivekananda said, you are the master of your destiny . you  can change or mar it. it is upto your hand.'  During this preset one should be careful not to add further more vasanas which is called Agami.  That is where the importance of development of intellect comes into picture.

Method of overcome :  I had already mentioned in details by regular practicing of jnana, bhakthi and karma, meditation.

Th root cause is ignorance of Self which is manifesing as Vasanas and further as individual being.

Thanks with regards,

R. Parmeswaran
