IntroductionNina Paley, an American Cartoonist, is the creator of the animated film 'Sita Sings the Blues' which is available for free viewing on the internet. A devout person cannot begin to imagine what Nina Paley has conjured up and graphically crystallised in this film wherein Lord Ram often kicks Sita.... and walks on her pregnant stomach.... These are only two of the many painful images one must endure. The only reason for watching this absurd film is to make people aware of what a completely false representation this film is of the Ramayan and how it nosedives into taking the issue of denigration to an unbelievably low level. She states that this story is based on the Ramayan of Rushi Valmiki. But what she has done is take the ingredients of the epic story and give it a meaning which is completely opposite to the spiritual truths that the scripture conveys. Unfortunately, this film is being recommended on various parenting websites, for children to watch. Those who are unfamiliar with this Holy Scripture are going to accept this inane version as being the truth ! |

1. False representation :The commentators say that the Ramayana is not as true a story as the Bible.
Spiritual fact :This seems to be an attempt to portray the Bible as being more trustworthy than the Ramayana. Yes, propaganda to prove Christianity's superiority over Hinduism. This movie is part and parcel of the anti-Hindu movement and propagation of Christianity. This movie violates the religious feelings of Hindus. The Government must ban this film. |

2. False representation : Ravan was a good king and the only wrong thing that he did was steal Sita.
(Editor's comment: Like attracts like and so quite naturally anti-Hindu Nina Paley supports Ravan.) Spiritual fact :Such remarks show Ms. Palay's anti-Hindu mentality by demeaning the Holy Scriptures of Hindus. For this she must apologise to all Hindus. |

3. False representation : Ravan's sister tells Ravan about how beautiful Sita is and says that her breasts are like big round juicy lotuses. Sita is shown wearing a cholie that reveals her breasts in one outfit from above, and in another outfit from below the blouse.
Editor's comment :Such remarks show her anti-Hindu mentality of criticizing Hindus Holy Scriptures. For this she must apologise to all Hindus. |

4. False representation : The commentator says that Ravan played the veena for Lord Shiva with his intestines and He shows Ravan's intestines tumble out of his stomach and they play the veena.
(Editor's comment : Such spiritual ignorance on the part of Nina Paley makes her seem comical. This harms the religious feelings of Hindus. She should be prosecuted for this.) Spiritual fact :Actually what is mentioned in the Ramayan is that Ravan's devotion was such that the 72 thousand nadis or energy channels in his body created a sound (Anahat nada) and this pleased Lord Shiva. |

5. False representation : Sita sings with her love for Ram in the forest. The words of her song were... 'He is not an angel or a Saint and I know that with all his faults, he will still get by'. Then she imagines carrying Ram piggy back. After that she stands on all her fours (like a horse or a dog) and Ram is shown sitting on her back. (Editor's comment : This is outright insulting to the faith of Hindus and destroys the reverence for the Ramanyan in children's minds.) |

6. False representation : When Ravan speaks to Sita, she speaks in an uncouth manner telling him, "Your ass is grass once Lord Ram comes here."

7. False representation : Sita is shown wearing a ridiculous amount of jewellery as the commentator says she dropped her jewellery to show the way to Lanka when she was abducted by Ravana. The commentator ridicules the Ramayan by questioning how Sita had so much jewellery when she had taken up the life of a sanyasi.
Spiritual fact :Sita was only in exile. She was not a sanyasi. She dropped jewellery like her ring, anklets and earrings at strategic points on the path. |

8. False representation : One commentator viciously says that one needs to 'give her one little tight thing' for not returning with Lord Hanuman when he came to rescue her. Another says that Sita stayed back as she wanted Lord Ram to rescue her and defeat Ravan due to the ego of wanting 'Her husband' to be her rescuer and so she is called a 'bloodthirsty' woman and is depicted with blood coming out of her mouth and blood on her hands.
Spiritual fact :Sita could not allow herself to be carried by Lord Hanuman as it is a Hindu woman's Dharma not to be touched by any man other than her husband. |

9. False representation : When Hanuman reports to Ram about what he saw in Lanka, Lord Ram begins to sweat and then faints in fear.
Spiritual fact:Lord Ram's arrow never missed its target no matter where the target was. How could such a Divine warrior who was an incarnation on earth be afraid of a mere demon ? |

False representation : When Lord Ram comes to rescue Sita, he says that she is impure and unfit to be his wife and that he had terrible suspicions about her character and conduct to the extent that the sight of her was painful to him. He dismisses her and ends with the crushing statement, 'I have no more use for you.'
Spiritual fact :Lord Ram was fully aware of Sita's purity. In addition, the Ramayan states that Lord Ram surrendered Sita to Agni devata and she sent an illusionary form of Sita to Lanka so that the real Sita was kept safe. After the 'Test by Fire' that Sita underwent successfully, Agni devta returned the real form of Sita to Lord Ram. |

False representation : Sita sings a song saying 'Ram is mean to me' and Lord Ram is depicted kicking Sita into the fire at the time of her agnipariksha (Test by fire) and He kicks her at the time of banishing her from the kingdom. Lord Ram nonchalantly also walks over Sita's pregnant stomach (Editor's comment : Does the US government allow its citizens to disrespect and demean other religions ? After being notified about how infuriated the Hindu community is with her film, if the US government does not take any action against her, it will be tantamount to approving of her actions.) |

The way to extinguish a religion is to first create utter disrespect for it in the minds of people about their faith. Then ridicule the followers so that they are downright ashamed of being Hindu. Then the lost directionless Hindu populace will be soft targets to defeat on any front.

Or are you willing to stand up for Dharma and realise that in this increasingly unrighteous world, 'Only Dharma protects the Dharmic'. We need to act together and act now. Hindus have to create their own destiny. Non-violence was not preached to ravan. And we don't need to preach the same to anti-hindus. As the jews did to nazis, dig these anti-hindus out, xxxx them, xxxx them and make a statement that we do not accept such provocation.

A positive step on devotees side like us, is to take effort in educating people about our glorious Ramayana with pure devotion . Let everyone of us contribute to a making of video / build good sources that depicts the true Ramayana as what we understood in our hearts. When we sincerely put our inner devotion to action by depicting the real Ramayana , gooses like this wretch should find another good job to wash off their bowls !!

I am truly shocked that such a 'movie' has been made. This is just another example of people who absolute disregard and no respect for the religions of others.

I would like to suggest you to ban such a movie for the sake of preventing the moral of the great epic of Ramayana. The wrong message is creating adverse notions in the minds of the young generation and hence this should be immediately stopped. This has hurt our religious feelings to great extent.

I request Nina to show me any Ramayana written by any authors including women where Sita is comaplaining or lameting? ‘DHARMA’ is what she needs to understand from Ramayana. That is the essence. The cartoonist shows her ignorance and hatred of Sanatan Dharma. This bigotry is a direct result of the level of education (or lack of) the cartoonist has. It is a shameful act but such hatred is ingrained in their 'holy' bible and these people are just regurgitating what they have learnt. Even though I am an American, I know the respect and Importance of Load Ram for Hindus and their mythology. Ramayana and Mahabharata are some of the best Holy Poems in Human History. There is nothing wrong if u follow another religion or do not believe in our religion, but it doesn't mean that u make fun of Hindu gods/ goddesses and hurt the sentiments of millions of people. Creativity can be used in positive ways for the benefit of mankind. If ur left with any sense, hope u try something of that sort, than defaming Hinduism and its gods.

We have to think about the abuse and bullying that our kids in schools would have to suffer at the hands of kids from other cultures who watch this video. In their desperateness to denegrate Sanatana Dharma and its vast enlivening literature, the punny-minded followers of other faiths, including Christianity and Islam can think of nothing else but to denegrate the several gods and goddesses, which their religion do not have and are jelous.
Instead of denegrating the Hindu religion and the deities, these followers of other faiths need to seriously work upon finding and establishing new gods and goddesses for their own comfort that they too have many gods and goddesses like the Hindus.

It is a pity and a shame that certain Indian citizens who are born and brought up outside India by parents who have no time to keep their kids in touch with our culture and religion, get so misguided that they are not aware of the meaning or the need of reverence. Unfortunately, this is true even in our own country where I have seen diamond merchants using foul, dirty and abusive language for each other INSIDE A TEMPLE!
Bad language also has become so much a part of our daily life that it is not abnormal any more - and that is the shame. Will my readers do something about this too? Thanks in anticipation.

I deplore the works of Ms.Nina Paley, the cartoonist, because it hurts my sentiments. Her works are anti-Hindu religion, Hindu-Gods/goddessses.
The US Laws / Indian laws prohibits one to make derogatory / denigrating works against another religion.

This is not acceptable. Hindus being tolerant doesn't mean others have every right to disrespect Hindu believes and religion. What if we also start protesting the way Muslims are doing world wide. Hindus are basically kind at heart which people should not take things for granted.Had this happened to some other religions there will be hue & cry in the media both in India & Abroad.Why those people are not coming forward to condemn this, reason is that they are westernized & biased.
Henceforth,Please don't hurt the feeling of a true religious person.

Who is the protest against ?
What is the point of protesting against the US Embassy - the US Constitution offers very strong freedom of speech protection - and I doubt that the government is going to ban any free expression.
If any organization/country had made such a bad creation, perhaps we can protest - but in the case of an individual - perhaps its best to ignore
Swamiji faced much opposition when he was in the US - did he go and refute every opponent ?
Let us go ahead, doing what we can to grow and protect our culture, instead of reacting to every crazy person who puts up a video on YouTube.
We are very prompt in jumping up and attacking somebody, but what are we doing creatively for spreading the culture of India, the scriptures, the heritage and wisdom of traditional India ?
Thoughts ?

It seems Girishji read my mind! This is exactly what came to my mind!!
Apart from one main thing that is HOLY TRIO AND THEIR TEACHINGS AND MESSAGES ARE ULTIMATE IN HARMONY OF RELIGIONS, This Family of Devotees are mainly interested in Spirituality! Not only that, this politics of confrontation is specially avoided by RAMAKRISHNA MATH AND MISSION as per the GUIDELINES SET BY SWAMIJI HIMSELF!!!
Today only I shared my view of How important Internet as a potent tool can prove to be in creating awareness, either Positively or even Negatively.
Yesterday Shri Anbuji shared one beautiful post on "Mistakes" in which I liked this particular sentence, "For as soon as you
realize you've made a mistake, it goes from being a negative to a positive influence. ..... Mistakes, though they are rarely ever sought, end up being excellent investments once they're understood..... Usually, mistakes are at their most destructive stage when you have not yet recognized them as mistakes."
So my request is not to get effected by this Negative Propaganda about Our Culture, Our Epics like Ramayana, Our Gods and Goddesses!

I agreed that it is not spirituality. But as Thakur said that who was Ram and who was Krishna, He is Ramakrishna in this avatar.
I think by painting this silly cartoon on Shri Ram is a insult to our Thakur also.
If some one paint my father and mother naked, should we sit quiet without saying anything ?
No one dare to touch Muhammad, Christ but why Shri Ram, Shri Krishna?

The One who resides in Nina Paley is the same Lord too...it is the ignorance of that truth which made her create the silly cartoon.
Lord Rama resides in one and all...
We can only pity her and people like her, for how far are they from 'Home' and how miserable they should be...
An excerpt from Swamiji's 'Bhakti Yoga'(I am quoting this with reference to fanaticism and not because i think Nina Paley is a Christian religious fanatic) :
The one great advantage of Bhakti is that it is the easiest and the most natural way to reach the great divine end in view; its great disadvantage is that in its lower forms it oftentimes degenerates into hideous fanaticism. The fanatical crew in Hinduism, or Mohammedanism, or Christianity, have always been almost exclusively recruited from these worshippers on the lower planes of Bhakti. That singleness of attachment (Nishthâ) to a loved object, without which no genuine love can grow, is very often also the cause of the denunciation of everything else. All the weak and undeveloped minds in every religion or country have only one way of loving their own ideal, i.e. by hating every other ideal. Herein is the explanation of why the same man who is so lovingly attached to his own ideal of God, so devoted to his own ideal of religion, becomes a howling fanatic as soon as he sees or hears anything of any other ideal. This kind of love is somewhat like the canine instinct of guarding the master's property from intrusion; only, the instinct of the dog is better than the reason of man, for the dog never mistakes its master for an enemy in whatever dress he may come before it. Again, the fanatic loses all power of judgment. Personal considerations are in his case of such absorbing interest that to him it is no question at all what a man says — whether it is right or wrong; but the one thing he is always particularly careful to know is who says it. The same man who is kind, good, honest, and loving to people of his own opinion, will not hesitate to do the vilest deeds when they are directed against persons beyond the pale of his own religious brotherhood.
But this danger exists only in that stage of Bhakti which is called the preparatory (Gauni). When Bhakti has become ripe and has passed into that form which is called the supreme(Parâ), no more is there any fear of these hideous manifestations of fanaticism; that soul which is overpowered by this higher form of Bhakti is too near the God of Love to become an instrument for the diffusion of hatred-.
