Swami Vivekananda defines religion as: “the manifestation of the Divinity already in man,” thus giving us a prescription for putting into practice one of the four cardinal principles of Vedanta – “the divinity of the soul.”
There is a very important statement, cryptic but pregnant with meaning in the Upanishads, the philosophical portions of the Vedas. It is “Tat Tvam Asi” “That Thou Art.” Your intrinsic nature is God-consciousness. Your heart is the dwelling place of the King of Kings, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe.
