From the Vedantic or philosophical standpoint Hinduism is non-dualistic and from the standpoint of practical religion, monotheistic. Vedanta asserts the essential non-duality of God, the soul and the universe, the differentiation being only apparent, created by names and forms, which do not really exist when viewed from the level of the Ultimate Truth.
