Swami Turiyananda

During the summer of 1921, Turiyanandaji's suffering continued to increase. Now it was skin trouble on his back. Swami Saradanandaji came to Varanasi from Calcutta with Dr. Kanjilal to see his brother monk.The same year the best surgeons of Varanasi operated on Turiyanandaji, removing a large carbuncle and much of the tissue surrounding it. In mid-1922, he suffered from another carbuncle. This operation was the last one. Turiyanandaji's entire back became infected, and gangrene set in: The doctors lost hope.
