Ancient India was full of forests and mountains and wood was more than enough, the population was also less; so it was an agreement between man and nature that nature will not be overcrowded with flourishing trees and man’s daily sustenance would also be maintained. Every day the disciples – young girls and boys – would go to the forest, collect firewood and bring them to the guru’s ashram.
