We don't begin with surrender to God, but with this attitude of self - reliance and self -effort; otherwise, we shall be stunted in our spiritual growth, as the child shall be if, instead of exercises in self- reliance and self-effort, it wholly resorted to complete dependence on its own mother and the mother also encouraged it that way.
