Sri Ramakrishna accepted Gopal as his disciple and would address him as "the elder Gopal" The other disciples called him "Gopal-da" (Gopal, the elder brother), since he was eight years older than Sri Ramakrishna. The Master introduced him to Holy Mother, who needed a person who could shop and run errands for her. Sri Ramakrishna praised Gopal's managerial capacity in household affairs and his sweet behaviour with people. One way to judge  a person's internal nature is to watch his external actions.. Gopal was neat and clean, and by temperament methodical and orderly.
