Guru Purnima – 17
After three years Shang, his teacher opened his mouth and just said one word. The disciple was astounded. Another five years passed without a word from the teacher. Lao Tzu began to think about right and wrong, benefit and harm. After five years the teacher gave him a long look, a steady gaze but did not say anything. Seven more years passed. He went daily and sat looking at the teacher for hours and hours. Then he stopped thinking about right and wrong, benefit and harm. His mind became very calm and quiet and still. There was no thought, all thoughts had been stilled.
