Mahapurush Maharaj as we saw him

In 1926, a convention of all the Ramakrishna Math and Mission centres was held at Belur Math.

In the month of May after the convention, in the darkness of a new moon night the worship of the Mother Kali was performed at the Math. Taking the permission of Mahapurushji, Swami Omkarananda ( Ananga maharaj) began the worship in the first part of the night. Without taking much help fro the tantradharaka, he completed the puja himself, going through all the details one by one throughout the whole night. In the morning, after meeting and saluting Sri Sri Mahapurushji, I said,' Anang Maharaj is an adept in the art of worship. Very well-trained!' Mahapurushji then replied smilingly,' Not only in this birth! It is the fruit of spiritual practices in other and previous births. None can come into the circle of Thakur without the merit of the good deeds of the past and bygone births. Know that they who have arrived and collected at the door of Thakur are highly virtuous and righteous people.'
