Today's Vivekananda Quote

SV Reclining

Numbers do not count, nor does wealth or poverty; a handful of people can throw the world off its hinges, provided they are united in thought, word, and deed--never forget this.

From "Memoirs of European Travel," written in Bengali. Complete Works, 7. 372.

Today's Vivekananda Quote

That which is limited is material. The spirit alone is infinite. God is spirit and is infinite. We are spirit and are infinite, and the infinite alone can worship the infinite. We will worship the infinite: that is the highest spiritual worship.

From a lecture on "What Is Religion?". Complete Works, 1. 341.

Today's Vivekananda Quote

Women must be put in a position to solve their own problems in their own way. No one can or ought to do this for them. And our Indian women are as capable of doing it as any in the world.

Today's Vivekananda Quote

SV RecliningSo long as millions live in hunger and ignorance, I hold every man a traitor who, having been educated at their expense, pays not the least heed to them! I call those men who strut about in their finery, having got all their money by grinding the poor, wretches, so long as they do not do anything for those two hundred millions who are no better than savages! We are poor, my brothers, we are nobodies, but such have been always the instruments of the Most High. The Lord bless you all.

From Chicago,1894. Letter to Alasinga. Complete Works, 5. 58.

Today's Vivekananda Quote
SV Reclining

We theorize, talk, philosophize; and the next moment something comes against us, and we instinctively become angry, we forget there is anything in this universe but this little limited self, we forget to say, "I am the spirit, what is this trifle to me? I am the spirit." We forget that it is the spirit playing with itself. We forget God. We forget freedom.

There is a huge gap between having knowledge understanding it and applying it in our daily life. Once we put it to use it becomes part of our day to day life and comes instinctively. The world calls it Sahaj Yoga but the Sahaj (easy) indeed is most difficult.
