Abhaya: When Holy Mother was going through that dacoit-ridden area, she was suddenly confronted by a dacoit. She was not afraid. The dacoit couple looked after her. In her later years one of the devotees asked her, “what did you feel when you saw that huge man, a robber, with a stick in his hand?’ Mother replied, “First when I saw him from a distance, I felt a little frightened. I was alone, all the others who were with me had gone ahead. If I cried, nobody would even hear me. But when he came near me, somehow all the fear left me. I went and stood near him saying, ‘Father, I am your daughter Sarada. I am alone. I am afraid of dacoits, please look after me.’ I don’t know what thought passed through his mind. Suddenly there was a look of utter surprise on his face and he looked at me strangely. There was a woman behind him. I told her, ‘Mother I am your daughter. I am going to your son-in-law. The group of people who were with me left me and went on. I could not walk so fast. I am tired. Please take me there.”
